Outreach Programs through Learning Institute 4 the Urban Arts

Our outreach programs were created to support the mission statements of Soul Sistaz En Company (non profit) and the Learning Institute 4 the Urban Arts to be offered in schools, churches, community centers, recreation centers, libraries and any group or organization that believe their youth can benefit from what we offer.

Our process is a simple one. 
  • Contact us to inquiry. We respond within 48 business hours
  • Set up a meeting with us to discuss what we offer, your needs and mission/goals
  • We submit our proposal for your review(this will include breakdown of fees or agreement to accept your submit grant fund(s)
  • Once there is a agreement we schedule our program(s) at your designated facility(s)

MISSION STATEMENT:

Soul Sistaz En Company is a 501(c3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower young girls/boys and young women through the exciting medium of urban art culture. 

The main goal Soul Sistaz En Company goal is to touch positively one female at a time nurturing them to in return give back to others through their communities.

SUMMARY:

Positive change is a key goal with Soul Sistaz En Company; a non-profit organization that provides our youth with the opportunity to help change their lives and create positive change through the urban art culture for the better as they help pave the way for the youth that will follow in their footprints.
 
Soul Sistaz En Company utilizes the urban art culture in the form of street dance, creative literature, film & animation, graffiti courses, deejaying & emceeing and mentorship to inner city girls/boys and young women who would not otherwise have the opportunity to train in a professional dance training facility setting.  

Soul Sistaz En Company embraces the very philosophy of developing inner strength and solid resolve to obtain ones' personal goals using the arts as a vessel to reach the youth. 
 
Each student will gain a mentor and coach relationship with each Professionally qualified trainer and other mentors affiliated with Soul Sistaz En Company & Learning Institute 4 the Urban Arts. Soul Sistaz En Company will also connect children, teens and young women to local programs and advocates that can assist them in their daily lives, such as gang violence, bullying, abstinence, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, healthcare, education and employment resources etc.


PROGRAMS:

"Boyz 2 Gentz" workshop & camp programs starting at ages 7yrs-16yrs This program teaches the core value of respect, integrity, self worth, masculine identity, understanding human development, The baggy pant theory, quizzes, field trips, male mentors along with all of the above!

“WORDZ” Program-  a unique program that presents youth with the opportunity to express their feelings creatively through Graffiti art and Youth Urban Literature. Through this program young people can openly express how they feel, the things they see within their local communities and around the world to open healthy dialog between their parents, school communities, potential local government and national government leaders. This can help develop a possible means to prevent potential harmful issues that young people face every day in their lives so that they can feel empowered to seek to make positive changes by finding solutions that young people face. By helping to develop smart, effective solutions to problems such as bullying, teen suicide, drug abuse, racial discrimination, domestic violence, environmental concerns and harmful sexual practices this program gives youth an opportunity to express themselves within society by giving them a platform to have a voice. This program is built on empowering young people so that they can help grow their communities using the basic 4 elements of hip hop as their starting blocks of their creativity.

Each participating young person will be guided to write short stories that speak from their point of view or develop their artistic abilities in the area of Graffiti. They will along with writing and graffiti artists’ mentors and a counselor express their feeling through their short stories. At the end of their participation of the program their work will be collectively compiled into an anthology collection of both short story and graffiti art giving them an opportunity to not only share their feelings but share them with other young people. As the final component of this program a several mini book releases will conducted within participating schools to help share the youth participants work as they will have an opportunity to read excerpts of their work as well as display their artwork to audiences in their communities.

I Make Movies Series “Young Urban Film Makers” This program goal is to provide a learning environment for young budding film makers to learn how to make film works with the focus on learning the craft of film making and providing a vehicle to express and potentially guide them and others towards a positive path. 

Through this program, young people can openly express how they feel, the things they see within their local communities and around the world to open healthy dialog between their parents, school communities, potential local government and national government leaders.

“Why You Mad Son” program (under the I Make Movies Series and Soul Sistaz En Company) is devised to allow troubled young males from the age of 8-19 to record a video journal “VLOG” on their lives and the things that affect them. Using their personal video entries these young men with their counselors can in a group setting:
  • Identify why they are angry/mad
  • Begin to confront their personal issues to work towards finding positive means to coup with life
  • Share with one another to help others within their group confront problems in a healthy manner
  • Help develop skills such as discipline, healthy communication skills, coping skills, healthy relationships and respect for their lives and other lives around them
  • Document their journey of self understanding
  • Begin to contribute to their communities through positive behavior and activities
  • Share with others with the end product being compiled into a short documentary
This program will connect each young man with two counselors: One male and one female to help provide a balanced positive role models due to the situations where both a positive male and a positive female role model is not present in these young men lives. Each young male will be able to be a part of analyzing their negative behavior, their neighborhoods and school. This program will seek to have additionally positive, successful people in society to connect with our youth participants by video Vlogging their experiences and have direct Skype talks with them in hopes that their words and video connection can inspire them and teach them that success and/or positive participation in society is possible despite any roadblocks they may be experiencing. “Uplift 1, Uplift All Puppet Theater” is a youth program that targets young children to unfortunate issues they may face at a young age in their homes, schools, and communities. Utilizing puppets characters that children can identify with this program goes into the school systems, libraries, day care centers, recreational centers, churches and anywhere the mission statement’s positive message is welcomed. This very interactive program focuses on peer pressure, environmental issues, bullying, drugs, domestic violence and youth suicide which has become a troubling concern in children at very young ages.

“SHE SPEAKS…Program” Using written word, the young girls in this program develop the skills to express their feelings in a positive manner. This program does two things:
  • Help the young female identify her own “personal” problems facing her life
  • And then
  • Develop solutions to either fix those problems or cope with them in smart, positive ways through creative writing and spoken word/poetry/rap/song.
This program will focus on helping the young female develop a positive self esteem for herself, teach her ways to empower herself and value their lives. Through their writings/speeches they will decide a personal goal and begin to look and work at options to achieve these identified goals. 
Upon completion of this program their work will be featured within anthology collection to be included with the Graffiti and WORDZ programs.
